Bollywood News: YRF In Legal Tangle Over New York

Suchita Bhhatia, a new director making her way to the film industry blames Yash Raj Films banner for using her script in their recent flick New York without informing her. The director who is also a writer claims that it was the same story she narrated to YRF three years ago. But when she saw that her story is used in New York after three years, she broke her silence.

“I wrote to Aditya Chopra in August 2006 regarding two stories I had. He asked director Arjun Sablok to get in touch with me. He contacted me and we fixed up a meeting at the YRF studio. On September 1, I met Arjun and narrated two story ideas to him. He was extremely happy with the stories. I still remember him exclaiming ‘Wow!’ I kept writing to him, but there was no response and I gave up as I got busy with other work. To my surprise, after three years, I saw New York and was disheartened to know what they had done: using my story without even informing me, let alone give me any credit,” said the newbie.

She has also filed a complaint against Writer’s Association, to which she had registered the story in 2006. However director Sablok is not able to recollect the past as he said, “I have no recollection of such a meeting and I need more time before I can officially comment on the matter.”

Meanwhile, Kabir Khan the director of New York is also in angry state of mind, who said, “If this girl had written the script and if YRF had liked the story so much why wouldn’t they take it? And why would they pay and give credit to Sandeep Shrivastav for the same story instead? It’s ridiculous that people use a popular film to get cheap publicity and five minutes of fame. And the theatrical promos of New York were out since 2008 and they stated exactly what the film was all about so why is she raising her voice now?”

The actress whose three films - Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Rashee, Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey and Jugal Hansraj’s Pyaar Impossible - are ready to hit theaters back to back, has visited hospital a couple of times due to health problems. Well off course the reason is her overwork.

Currently on her high, Priyanka Chopra, who bagged ten awards in her kitty during last six months don’t want to take any risks, so is restricted to mum Dr Madhu Chopra’ diet only. She even carries food to hotels she often visit seeking special permission to allow her mom supervised food.

“My immune system has just gone a bit haywire,” says Priyanka.

How this happened? Well, it’s because she is playing 12 characters in What’s Your Rashee which drawn away her energy. However the actress proudly claims that she is the only actor in the world of cinema who has attempted as many as these number of characters in one film with only one exception to one Hindi film actor from the era of 1920, who has played 16 characters.

However there are few Indian actors who played multiple characters in their films but not up to or more than 12 like Kamal Haasan played 10 roles inDasavatharam (2008), while Sanjeev Kumar played 9 roles in Naya Din Nayi Raat (1974).

With too much effort put into WYR, the actress obviously hopes accolades for it. However, to perform all these characters she didn’t need to go through any artificial aid. “The only change for the hip girl from Nairobi or the simple one from a village in Oonjha is a walk, a voice note or a subtle difference in the makeup,” says Priyanka.

Priyanka confesses that it (WYR) is the most difficult film of her career. “Believe me; I have put in my sweat, tears and blood into this film. It is the most difficult film in my career. No wonder my system packed up.”

After doing number of films together actor Akshay Kumar come to know much about actress Katrina Kaif which is needed to know. What he knows about theactress is her delicate health that if she stay under water for few hours, it’s clear that she will fall ill.

Recently both of them were shooting a typical rain song for Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan at Mumbai studio. For the song Katrina was wearing chiffon sari and Akshay was dressed in thin Kurta. But with just a first shot itself Katrina sat shivering on chair. However many retakes done after and then our hero Akshay came into action to help Katrina. He made a round around the set to make sure that not a single air-conditioner is on and requested choreographer Pony Varma and Priyan to take care of her. Later he ordered two big Turkish towels, in one he covered Katrina, while wrapped himself in other. All this Akshay did because he knew that if she stays wet for a long she will get fever the next day. Well he knew this from his past experience (working) with theactress.

Being thankful to her co-star’s gesture, Katrina said, “God, he treats me like a baby.” Something she must know from long, but we know it now only, isn’t it.

Bollywood Gassips: Yash Raj Films to Launch New Female Face

Like they launched Anushka Sharma with RNBDJ, Yash Raj Films is set to launch one more female face Shazahn Padamsee alongside Ranbir Kapoor with yet to be named venture to be directed by Shimit Amin. The director claim to fame with his last film Chak De India with YRF productions.

She is a daughter of renowned theatre personality Alque Padmasee and pop singer Sharon Prabhakar. The girl has already walked the ramp before and acted in dad Alque Padmasee’s play Unspoken Dialogues. To grab the role Shazahn gone through auditions conducted by YRF. Previously it was assumed that Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan will act together in the film. But according to reports only Ranbir has been signed for the movie.
